Insights into franchisor performance

Franchise sector-wide performance benchmarks will be available for the first time through an exciting new project, being run by the Centre.

Franchisors with operations in Australia are invited to participate in the research project, and those who do will receive a business planning tool – the Franchise Performance Metrics Report, valued at $997 – for free. All contributions to the research are anonymous and strictly confidential.

Project leader and Centre Director Professor Lorelle Frazer said the project would be a global first and provide unique insights into franchisor performance.

“The Franchise Performance Metrics project will provide unique insights into franchisor performance against a peer group, allowing franchisors to see how they perform across key indicators in the franchise sector,” she said. “This important research project is entirely anonymous and confidential, so only the franchisor will know how they really perform against their peer group.

“Through this project franchisors will be able to see for the first time how they compare with other franchisors of similar size and scope, rather than just relying on their industry benchmarks for performance measures and business planning.”

The research will reveal franchise sector averages and best practice so franchisors can easily identify where they can make improvements, (and where they’re already achieving best practice) to better focus resources.

Given the nature of the project, only franchisors can participate and access the Franchise Performance Metrics Report for free. Franchisors can register their interest here.

To participate all franchisors have to do is complete a survey, which will be forwarded to them via email mid-February. The Centre will then forward the Franchise Performance Metrics Report as soon as the research has been analysed.

“The end product will be a very powerful business tool, allowing individual franchisors to gauge their performance against like franchises - for the first time, globally,” Professor Frazer said.
