Twice the Coffee for Major Gold Coast Arterial Road

In what may be considered a surprise move, franchisees Jimmy and Bernadette Williams will open the doors today to another Zarraffa’s store almost within sight of their existing store, on Ferry Road in Southport on the Gold Coast.

The expansion will see Mr Williams and his team operate both stores to capitalise on one of the city’s leading transport corridors and provide added convenience to the local community and commuters.

“We also own another drive thru on the Gold Coast at Pacific Pines and know how effective this can be in terms of delivering great coffee with extra convenience. So when the site became available we saw the upside and decided to run with it,” he said.

Zarraffa’s Executive Director, James Barritt, acknowledged that this was a unique expansion opportunity for the Group that wouldn’t usually locate stores so close to one another.

“We understood the potential for Jimmy and Bernadette and worked with them to make it happen, once we had considered a range of factors,” he said.

“In addition to being exceptional operators and combined with the fact that they will own and operate both stores, we were more than happy to support their vision for this highly visible location.”

The store is located at the newly refurbished Southport Park Village, 175 Ferry Road, Southport, just south of Centro Southport Park and opposite The Southport School (TSS), and is the 64th for the Australian-owned and operated franchise chain.

Options for coffee for commuters on their way to work, shoppers, parents on the school run and anyone travelling on this major road have now doubled, with the opportunity to stop and dine in also.

“We already enjoy a great patronage and regular clientele at our existing store and want our second store on Ferry Road to also provide these benefits to those who are interested in stopping in for a coffee,” said Mr Williams.

Other innovations have been added to enhance the highly successful Zarraffa’s drive thru model.

“Careful attention was paid to details such as the height of our drive thru to ensure more emergency vehicles and other types of commuters can be catered for, given our proximity to hospitals and police stations,” said Mr Williams.

“We also have built dual exits, a first for the company, taking advantage of the store site to maximise customer access and ease of operation.”

Mr Williams said that at the end of the day he wouldn’t have made the move if it wasn’t for his fundamental love of coffee.

“I love the brand and the product and for us it isn’t a job, it’s our life and our staff understands this also.”

Eight of Mr William’s barista team will transition for the opening of the store and he has also spent additional budget on training up new team members.

“We knew we would have to hit the ground running, especially in this location, so we have allocated funds to prepare our 20-strong team earlier than required with training and brand know-how.”

To celebrate the opening, Zarraffa’s Coffee Ferry Road Drive Thru will be giving away complimentary coffee and other prizes with local radio station Sea FM on Friday 4th October.

“We want to share our excitement and let people know we are ready to deliver them their favourite Zarraffa’s coffee from our new location. We are keen to spread the word that we are open for business and ready to serve.”

“Ultimately we thought the location was too good to pass up and we hope that our customers, new and old, will think so too.”

Zarraffa’s Coffee Ferry Road (drive thru) is located at Southport Park Village, 175 Ferry Road, Southport, 4215

Opening hours:                5am – 10pm, seven days a week
