Automated Defibrillator Sparks Interest

Written on the 2 September 2010

SafetyQuip has introduced the Powerheart®AED G3 Plus to its extensive range of personal protective equipment.

SafetyQuip Nunawading’s Mark Bartlett knows very well how timely use of an AED can save a life, “My uncle was travelling in outback Queensland when he came across a car and a bus stopped at the side of the road. The driver of the car had suffered cardiac arrest and the bus driver was giving him CPR. Unfortunately the victim wasn’t responding and had no pulse. My uncle always travels with the AED he bought in 2004 after suffering a heart attack, so they connected the defibrillator pads to the victim’s chest and after three shocks the heart started pumping again. If my uncle hadn’t arrived on the scene with his defibrillator the outcome would have probably been very different.”

According to the US Occupational Health & Safety Administration thirteen percent of all workplace fatalities in the US result from sudden cardiac arrest. The Australian Resuscitation
Council recommends the use of an AED for cardiopulmonary resuscitation in their CPR Guideline 7. Research also demonstrates a 40% increase in chance of recovery from a sudden cardiac arrest if an AED is used within the first 5 minutes.

Availability of automated external defibrillator in workplaces, social clubs and sporting events is on the increase as more people become aware that, unlike heart attacks, sudden cardiac arrest can strike people of all ages and all levels of fitness.

The new Powerheart AED G3 Plus introduced by SafetyQuip features industry leading technology including patented daily weekly and monthly self-testing; instructive voice prompts
including CPR coaching, and an AED 7-year warranty as well as 4-year full replacement operating battery warranty.

SafetyQuip is Australia's only significant franchised player in full scope Workplace Safety Products & Services – a multi-billion dollar market. We are actively looking for the right people to establish locally owned and operated SafetyQuip franchise businesses in Sydney, Mackay, Townsville/Cairns, Rockhampton, Tasmania, South Adelaide, South Perth, Canberra and New Zealand.
